Join the Community Advancing
Telecom Infrastructure

TIP gives organizations a practical way to engage directly in the work shaping next-generation telecom infrastructure. Participants join operator-led and ecosystem-driven Project Groups, contribute to shared technical priorities, validate solutions through testing and real-world collaboration, and build relationships with the companies advancing open, disaggregated, and AI-enabled networks.

Through TIP, participants gain a neutral environment to turn industry challenges into actionable work, visible progress, and deployable outcomes.

Our Participation Tiers

TIP offers multiple participation paths so organizations can engage in the way that best fits their goals.

From broad Project Group access to specialized Research & Testing participation and OpenLAN-focused open source options, the tier structure helps participants find the right level of access, contribution, and collaboration across the TIP community.

Open Source:
Implementer vs. Contributor Participation

Implementers are organizations that want to deploy, integrate, or commercialize the open-source technologies developed within OpenLAN. Implementers gain access to TIP’s collaboration tools, community discussions, and project outputs, enabling them to test and deploy solutions without taking on primary responsibility for core technical development.

Contributors are organizations that want to actively shape and build TIP’s open-source projects. Contributors play a direct role in developing code, specifications, architectures, and test artifacts, and participate fully in technical decision-making. This participation level includes full contribution rights, and carries additional opportunities related to governance, intellectual property, and contribution agreements.

In short:

  • Choose Implementer if your focus is adoption and deployment.

  • Choose Contributor if your organization plans to lead, build, and influence the technology itself.

New Organizations Joining after the January Renewal Cycle

  • If you are a new Organization signing up for TIP, we will prorate your invoice! For your initial participation year, your participation dues will be calculated to account for the months your organization will be active in TIP, and provide a credit for any months you missed.

  • Once you are an active Organization within the TIP community, you will be invoiced for the full year's renewal dues on January 1 of each calendar year.

  • We created a proration table to help new Organizations calculate their expected membership dues for their initial participation year. Click below to access the table, as well as our Participant FAQs. If you have any questions, please contact our Participation team.
