AI-Based High Fidelity MIMO Channel Estimation and Prediction Application
The Aira AI-based High Fidelity MIMO Channel Prediction and Estimation application (xApp) runs atop any O-RAN Alliance compliant RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC). Depending on RAN timing constraints, the xApp could run in the cloud. The xApp gets signals via the E2 interface connected to the Distributed Unit (DU). Using advanced AI models, the xApp estimates and predicts the channel between the Radio Unit (RU) and the User Equipment (UE) under highly variable conditions characterized by UE distance and speed and delay spread . The output of the xApp is the prediction of channel evolution in-between S-slots, which results in improvements in RAN throughput and coverage.
The Service Model for the E2SM has been modified to accommodate the SRS CE, see the test report for more details on the pre-standard aspects of the deployment.
